A Dog Saved My Nephew's Life

When I think of what happened on the day of april 12/2001, I feel like exploding this story out of myself so all the world will find out what a hero Coco, a poodle-terrier mix, is. It was in the morning about 7 when my nephew Kevin, 8 years old at that time, woke up sick and told his parents that he was not feeling well and cannot go to school that day.

Everybody tought that Kevin had a little fever and was told that by the next day everything would be fine. His mom gaved him some cold medicine and syrup and left for work. Only Kevin and his grandmother were home. Kevin was always very quiet. Always playing with his figurines and video games. This time, as always, no one suspected anything was wrong.

At about 9:30 AM my brother, Louis, stopped by home to pickup some tools and some paperwork for his business. As he walked into the house for the papers he needed, Coco seemed very aggitated. Not thinking anything of it he went about his own business. Coco, on the other hand, frantically ran up and down the stairs barking more than usual, this time catching Louis's attention. He started calling for Kevin but there was no response. Walking up the stairs, he still heard nothing. Coco took a hold of his pant legs and nearlly dragged Louis into Kevin's room. There he saw Kevin's leg sticking out from underneath his bed. Louis kicked his leg and told him to stop messing around, but he gave no response. By this time Kevin was not breathing. Louis quickly grabbed Kevin and procceeded to perfom CPR as the EMS was on its way. Kevin, after having a severe seisure due to meningitis, barely awoke.

After spending just over six weeks in the OHSU Hospital, durring which the Romanian community was asked to pray for him, Kevin was released with minor health and physical damages. While in the hospital, the medical team assigned to him, told the family that he will remain in a vegetative stage. For the rest of his life he would have to be taken care of and held under strict medication and supervision. Remarkably, after 8 years Kevin did not experience any side affects or any reoccurrances of meningitis. He is now enjoying life as a healthy 16 year old, skateboarding and hanging out with friends. This is all owed to his poodle-terrier, Coco. God, using a little dog, helped a kid that was in major need of help. Also using a community of people, united in prayer for one cause, to perform a miracle for others faith to be strengthend.

If anyone has a unique animal or dog story they will like to share, please do so. I look forward to hear if there are any amazing stories of people beeing helped by animals. Or for information on a simple and effective training program click on the link below. God Bless!
